March 2020

According to the clocks - Spring has sprung!  Everyone seems a little sleepy this week but we'll be back in the swing of things soon!  It seems like the year is flying by.  Just 11 weeks left of school!  We continue to enjoy a ton have great books.  We will feature children's author Kevin Henkes in the weeks to come.  We are reviewing punctuation by searching for examples in our books.  Ask about question marks, exclamation points, and periods.  Hopefully your child can locate them all in text!  We are also exploring the concept of initials and patterns.  So much to learn...! :-)

Looking ahead, we have a Spring Concert on Wednesday April 22 at 6:00 in the Old Gym.  This year's theme is all about "Country" - as in boots, hats, and life on the ranch.  Our Kind-Early kids are working up a couple songs to share if they can overcome their stage fright!  I am gathering hats and boots for props and would gladly accept any donations!  I'm also looking for 4 "country girl" skirts.  If your little cowboy or cowgirl has a hat and boots to wear for the concert, please let me know.  Same with the skirts for the girls.  I will be scavenging to find one for everyone.  And while we're at it - we'll take anything you have to offer in the way of "dress-up"!  Our selection of materials are starting to feel a little stale and I'm looking for some fresh materials to build our learning around.  Your help is always greatly appreciated.

On another note, we are emphasizing hand-washing and hygiene in hopes of getting through this cold and flu season without an outbreak.  There's been influenza, strep, and plain old nasty colds - along with a particularly tough stomach bug in the air.  If you could tag team with us by reminding your kiddos how to catch their coughs and be diligent in washing their hands it might help keep us all healthy!

I want to thank everyone for their support this year.  Especially at the beginning of the year as we struggled to get started.  I hope that you will continue to support this program and communicate with Hot Springs School District 14J administratoin and your school board members the value you find in it.  With your continued support, I hope to see it grow and become a model Early-K program.
